That recognition earned Alter Ego the opening slot for Jane’s Addiction at Club Eastbrook (later named Orbit Room) for their “Nothing Shocking” tour in November of 1988 when promoter Alan Bashara heard their single “Wicked Girls” and asked the band to open for Jane’s Addiction which made them the first local band to ever play the Club Eastbrook stage. The song “made it” and was added to WKLQ’s late night rotation for 6 months. The song (Wicked Girls) was the first local unsigned band to be featured on the show. A show that featured national major label acts where callers called in and voted if the featured song was good enough to be added into WKLQ’s regular rotation. Walter Florido was replaced in 1987 by bassist Micheal Perfitt.Īlter Ego’s single “Wicked Girls” was featured in 1988 on WKLQ’s “Make It or Break It”. Alter Ego was a band formed in Grand Rapids MI in 1985 by Joe Botwinski (keyboards), David Ogilvie (lead vocals), Micheal Bouldin (drums) Walter Florido (bass) and Sean Fodor (guitar).
